Forty-one major enterprise buyers of outsourcing and eight leading service
providers came together in New York City (April 2012) to discuss these
challenges inherent in today’s outsourcing relationships between the enterprise
buyers (customers) and their outsourced service providers. In conjunction with
HfS, these outsourcing industry stakeholders created this definitive Blueprint
for the outsourcing industry. Downloaded sixteen thousand times and disseminated
throughout hundreds of global organizations, the Blueprint’s HfS Four Industry
Challenges of Sourcing illustration clearly resonated with executives
confronting the major issues of today’s outsourcing initiatives. It is the
most-read research document that discusses best practices relating to the
outsourcing industry. It isn’t enough, however, solely to identify challenges.
Organizations need to develop solutions and opportunities from sourcing, not
merely tackle complex obstacles and issues. In October 2012 in Boston, Mass.,
the HfS Sourcing Executive Council reconvened, along with eight leading service
providers to review the Blueprint and share their real world experience with
overcoming the challenges. The result is this document, “The Sourcing Industry
Blueprint 2.0: Architecting for Sourcing Success”, a pragmatic action plan that
any organization can use to turn these four challenges into four major
opportunities for their future growth and success.
