There are a lot of conversations about operational resilience today, and several interpretations of the term exist. The best definition to start with is this: Operational resilience is the ability to continue providing products or services inthe face of adverse market or supply chain events. On the surface, operational resilience might sound like a synonym for agility, but they differ in significant ways. While being agile is important, agility only emphasizes acting quickly to an immediate event. It is a short-term tactic for fulfilling a new customer need or overcoming a supplier problem, like a factory fire or transportation failure.
