In the current environment, successful category management requires a broader set of capabilities than in the past. Traditional category management aimed to achieve higher savings and greater spending discipline through improved organizational structure, defined categories, standardized processes, policies and strategic sourcing. The next wave of improvements came by way of compliance management, demand management, technology (Spend Analytics, eAuctions, Procure-to-Pay, etc.) and BPO. It is imperative for best in class companies to constantly seek new ways to drive value. Collaboration and innovation, both with internal business partners and suppliers, are the cornerstones of this next frontier value generation. This session gave a glimpse into Kimberly-Clark’s journey as they seek to consistently drive value and innovation.

Topics covered in this session included:

  • Kimberly-Clark’s approach to category management
  • Challenges and actions Kimberly-Clark has implemented to improve procurement value add
  • One perspective and several examples of how to collaborate and innovate in order to drive value in this new frontier
