While the Procurement function has made significant progress over the past few decades in professionalizing our contribution, why is it that our reputation is so negative? Why are we the people to be avoided? Over the past decade, few would question that we have: elevated the caliber of our team members; improved information and enabling technology; and applied more strategic approaches to end-to-end supply chain management. In short, we’ve made a ton of progress! In an attempt to answer this question and to single-handedly improve the perception of our area of responsibility, we engaged a number of well-respected and experienced sales and business executives. The participants were asked to frame their greatest frustrations and identify some alternative approaches that will respect the need to deliver value and mitigate business and financial risk while creating a more positive experience for all stakeholders. We will discuss their observations and ideas during this session.
Topics in this session included:
- Internal and external perspectives on Procurement
- A point of view on why these perspectives exist
- How to improve procurement’s reputation, both internally and externally
