Outsourcing is a fundamental business tactic; most large organizations will outsource some aspect of their business operations such as IT, finance and accounting or other processes. For many reasons, outsourcing is disruptive and can be transformative and should create shareholder value. However, the social impact of outsourcing can be devastating.

This presentation will examine some of the social and environmental issues and suggest how organizations can take a more socially responsible approach to outsourcing. The presentation is based on several years of ongoing international research on sustainable outsourcing.
