Lack of innovation consistently tops the list for reasons people are dissatisfied with outsourcing. Root causes include ingrained behaviors and lack of organizational maturity in addition to systemic disconnects between outsourcing methods and business requirements. This session examined how traditional contracting tools often fail to help businesses leverage emerging technologies such as robotics, cloud and data analytics. We discussed how clients and providers can collaborate to more effectively drive innovation in outsourcing relationships, while focusing on how to use existing mechanisms as well as new approaches to enable innovation-oriented contracts and service delivery models, as well as attract and retain required talent.
Topics covered in this session included:
- Why outsourcing relationships often fail at innovation
- How to select which functions to outsource
- How to assess provider capabilities
- Pros and cons of the RFI, RFQ, RFP and RFS (Request for Solution)
