Original Inquiry

Initiative Background:

We are evaluating how we pay our contingent workforce (contractors who are hired through a staffing agency). We are currently aware of two methods; the Percentage Markup method where there is a set rate paid to the contractor, plus a percentage to the staffing agency; and the bill rate where the hiring manager pays the staffing agency through a rate card, but the hiring manager has no visibility into what the staffing agency pays the contractor.

Question(s) / Request:

1. What are some creative payment methods for hiring contractors through staffing agencies?

2. Are there any new trends we should be aware of? Is there something that you have tried that has worked?

3. Or on the contrary, is there something that you have tried that hasn’t worked?
