IT Strategic Sourcing has long been straddling a line in the sand between Sourcing and IT. Each and every Sourcing category is becoming more IT-centric as technology advances. Gone are the days of a straight category strategy where a sourcing manager simply requests pricing for a specific item. Software, cloud and infrastructure components now infiltrate even the clearest of category strategies, blurring the responsibility lines for business roles and departments. IT Strategic Sourcing professionals must work towards mediating the various departments, while aligning with the CIO and IT Leadership to ensure business needs can be integrated and supported long term. Sourcing leaders and procurement and sourcing managers should attend this session.

Topics covered in this session included:

  • How to understand the current trends in IT
  • Characteristics of a strong IT Strategic Sourcing professional
  • Ideas for improving sourcing adoption within IT
  • Strategies for aligning business needs and non-IT commodities to IT
