If you’ve considered gearing up for a procurement transformation, you’ve probably been told you need data – lots of data – and that you need to understand the data to draw up a winning playbook that will transform the way your team experiences “game day.” What is “game day?” Game day is every day your team steps on your organization’s playing field and lines up to source, purchase, contract, or engage with a supplier.

The importance and value of data analytics is something that industries and organizations across the board keep top of mind – including the NFL. However, when future Hall of Famer and 8-time Super Bowl Champion coach Bill Belichick was asked how big of a role data analytics should play during game planning and in-game decision making, his response was, “I’d prefer good players, good fundamentals, and good execution.”

Does this mean we should look at the example of a game-day icon like Bill Belichick and downplay the importance of data analytics in his teams’ successes over the years? Probably not. But let’s emphasize what Coach Belichick admitted he needs to win: Good Players, Good Fundamentals, Good Execution.

Do you have this in your organization? And how do you draw up a winning playbook to ensure that you get the most out of your players on gameday? Are you coaching a .500 team with potential? Or will you have your team in contention for a championship (SIG Award)?
