With the advancement of remote access technology, the global workforce has become increasingly mobile. It is not just more accepted for tech workers to live and work outside the reaches of traditional office environments but in many cases, working remotely is becoming the new “normal.” Due to limiting factors in the US such as changes in demographics, a declining educational system, an increased demand for tech skills and saturation with the traditional IT labors pools in locations such as India and China, the US is faced with a skilled labor shortage in IT. This session highlighted opportunities to explore low cost country sourcing for IT Application Development (AppDev). It defined key factors companies often consider when evaluating outsourced models such as cost, quality of talent, service level and fit with low-cost countries.
