The daily challenge that we hear from CFOs is being caught in the 70/30 trap, spending 70% of their time on tactical matters and only 30% on the strategic issues that impact the company’s future. While the 70/30 trap may allow a business to maintain its current course, it is not the most effective use of time or resources for financial decision-makers. How then to increase the time available to spend on strategic matters? One approach, adopted by Microsoft in partnership with Sutherland Global Services, is to drive better decision making by moving from an Excel based reporting structure to a highly configurable Business Intelligence dashboard.
