As one of the largest electric power companies in the United States, Duke Energy delivers energy to four million customers in North and South Carolina, Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. Duke’s mission, to make people’s lives better by providing gas and electric services in a sustainable way, requires a constant effort to find better, more efficient ways of doing business, including optimizing its supply chain. Duke Energy has over 1,000 employees focused in this area, including 28 across the enterprise, therefore managing $8.6 billion in sourceable spend requires strong contract management and greater consolidated spend, consistent delivery across regions and recognition of demographic shifts.

Topics in this session included:

  • Duke Energy’s supply chain and spend profile
  • How the utility assessed its enterprise sourcing opportunities for continuous improvement, identifying opportunities in facilities management
  • How Duke partnered to layer labor, contract and support optimization across business units and various locations
  • The utility’s long-term partnership progression and delivery model expectations over the next three years
