Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives in today’s economy represent a significant and rapidly evolving risk and reward element, increasing pressure on Sourcing leaders to deliver reliable results through effective execution. Successful practitioners often implement collaborative and agile contracting models with their supply chain. Creating an agile and collaborative contracting model requires the integration of Sourcing and Category Management, Contract Management, Supplier Relationship Management, Third-Party Risk Management, Change Management, Project Management, and other disciplines – with the Sourcing Manager taking a leadership role in converging these perspectives into a singular focus on the ESG purpose. Most firms agree that the pursuit is needed, but few have determined how to proceed and the steps to take.
