“A few nights ago, the dinner table conversation strayed onto an assessment of the success of the (well-known brand) automated robotic vacuum cleaner that we recently purchased.. I may have, inadvertently, started to make parallel comparisons with automation and RPA technologies, the benefits and pitfalls, and how the industry has grown exponentially; driven by promises of quick benefits, and low cost of ownership.My 12-year-old daughter’s only contribution to the conversation was that she hoped that the technology was “more capable” than a robot vacuum cleaner; because she spends “a heck of a lot of time chasing it around, untangling it from phone charger wires, extracting Lego from its wheels, emptying its tiny dirt holder, and cleaning its brushes”.
Sometimes it takes looking at a situation through the eyes of an objective outsider to give an alternate perspective. It was this observation that led me to contemplate the current maturity of the automation and RPA industry, and what it takes to keep an effective RPA environment running and producing value…”
