The inevitable move from traditional, on-premise enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to cloud-based solutions handled by third-party providers has begun. Studies project that within a decade the majority of large enterprises will run their core ERP systems in a cloud environment. Sourcing professionals need to understand the technical and business benefits and drawbacks of cloud ERP solutions to appropriately structure deals and effectively advise the business during negotiations and implementation of these projects.
