An overview of technology to improve data center efficiency, a Homeland Security aspect of improved efficiency, the EPA's and Green Electronic Council's EPEAT certified equipment program, Department of Energy's "Save Energy Now" program and its Data Center Energy Profiler tool ("DC Pro"), How to adapt and adopt EPEAT and DC Pro for private sector outsourcing, and contract tips for best practices relationship between data center efficiency and company carbon neutral and CSR policies. It addresses using outsourcing to advance carbon neutral policies, requiring providers to comply with policies, challenges when different customers have inconsistent policies, hazardous waste laws applicable to disposal of old data center equipment, and privacy requirements applicable to data on computers to be discarded or recycled.
