The Internet of Things (IoT) brings great promise to commercial buildings-more efficient operations of every building system and optimized space use. Both deliver significant cost savings, reduced energy consumption and a lower carbon footprint. However, these are only a small fraction of the benefits that persuasive data on building operations and occupancy can provide. Thousands or millions of data points are a mixed blessing. Having a clear vision for transforming this cornucopia of data into strategic opportunities for improved employee productivity and operational performance is the Holy Grail. During this session, the audience journeyed through a highly successful IoT project using the industry’s most advanced sensors. Additional insights from Microsoft’s own journey from a building-centric to people-centric focus were shared. The real story is beyond the technology.

Topics covered in this session included:

  • How to sort through the enormous possibilities of IoT for buildings and focus on applying data for energy savings, improved asset performance and employee productivity
  • How to identify the top five drivers of savings using IoT data
  • How to understand a path for persuasive and rapid implementation of IoT technologies across a mixed use portfolio without CAPEX
  • Insider advice on how to partner with corporate real estate teams to further their business goals of driving value proposition, even when dealing with a complex ROI
