Robotics Process Automation (RPA) is here and it offers a means for implementing continuous process improvement more rapidly and cost-effectively than conventional platforms. This session outlined the potential for applying RPA and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to outsourced processes and shared services organizations. Also discussed was the evolution of AI-based tools, such as machine learning and natural language, which address handling unstructured data and judgmental processes. This session analyzed the RPA journey through the more “standard” uses to rules-based RPA accompanied by process reengineering to cognitive learning and ultimately new “digital” process models.

Topics covered in this session included:

  • The differences between Robotics Process Automation (RPA) and Artificial Intelligence (AI)
  • What processes are applicable for RPA and AI and what benefits can be expected
  • Some lessons learned for successful application of RPA technologies
  • Where the technologies and vendors are headed
