Like many other companies, UnitedHealth Group has implemented a sourcing program transformation in order to consolidate resources into functional competencies. After defining our goal to leverage our combined buying power and common platforms and to engage the optimal enterprise team, we began to identify risks. One risk resulted from the lack of insight into the experience and skills of our consolidated talent. To enhance their skillset, meet our goals, and mitigate our risk, we developed an innovative training methodology for our staff. The training sessions provided the opportunity for collaboration and facilitated a jump start to implementing new program strategies immediately.
